The Backgammon Game under a Magnifying Glass

There are many facts and tricks that are not known to the general public about the Backgammon game. Having such a strong historical background and formidable game setting certainly helps retaining the facts of the Backgammon game, but it is now time to put this special board game under a magnifying glass so that we can find out everything one needs to know about the game of Backgammon.

Backgammon is a board game but unlike any other board game, Backgammon deals with strategic maneuvers and can even be compared to a war strategy game. Backgammon consists of thirty checkers with fifteen for every player. The game has points which are the stepping stones or better yet stepping triangles through which the game advances. The goal of the Backgammon game is to bring all your checkers to your base and get them out of the board one by one.

The goal can be achieve by many different means of playing and there are several strategies that can help you. You can use you checkers to kick out the blots of your opponent. A blot is an unprotect checker that can be sent to the bar of the board which means that the checker has to start from the beginning at the opponents base in order to get back to one's home base. Another way to play is to race through the game which means not to even touch the enemy and try to bring the checkers home as quickly and effectively as possible.

Other Backgammon game strategies require for you to build anchor points. These anchor points are two or more checkers stacked up in a row. If a checker is stacked up with another checker then the place is safe from enemy's attacks and you do not have a blot. An anchor is a row of several stacked up checkers. This can and should lead to a prime, which is an anchor point that consists of six consecutive rows. This will make the enemy unable to escape from wherever the enemy is standing because nothing can beat the highest number on the dice which is a six.

There is also another inconspicuous feature in the Backgammon game which is called the doubling cube and which consists of numbers 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 and 64. Each Backgammon game is under normal rule equal to one point but when you use the doubling cube however, you can double the points that you can earn when winning. You should only use the doubling cube when you think you are in an advantage and when you think you can win.

The Backgammon game may now seem so much more than you ever thought it to be and you shall now enjoy your strategy adventure game as much as many people enjoy it worldwide.
